Red Ribbon Week 2017
HCI visited the Canton-Galva Elementary School this week to help raise awareness for Red Ribbon Week (saying no to drugs and making healthy decisions). Roxie, Jill and Tina dressed up in the school theme of crazy socks and hair day and delivered cards to all of the students that said “Be a “Smarty”, don’t make “dum” decisions, with smarties and dum dum suckers attached. Each class decorated a poster with the Red Ribbon theme. The girls judged the posters while they were there and Mrs. Klinkerman’s 2nd grade class won the poster contest and won a classroom pizza party with Mrs. Hedlund. It was hard to judge as all of the posters looked amazing…there are some very talented and creative classes at CG. We wrapped the week up participating at the school assembly on Friday morning. Kindergarten through 3rd grade was recognized for their individual posters and the grand prize winner was awarded a healthy dance party with 2 friends. HCI provided cheese & crackers and apples & caramel for their afternoon snack. Fourth through sixth grade wrote essays that the school teachers graded and the winner of each classroom won an Amazon Echo Dot, donated by HCI. The grand prize winner that was drawn was awarded a google chromebook, also donated by HCI. We had a great time participating in the school activities. The CG students were very appreciative, had great manners and we think they loved our crazy hair and socks more than anything! It’s a great day to be an Eagle and we are very fortunate to be a part of such great schools in our communities.
