Common FAQ's about the 844E Broadband Router:

Why do I see two Wi-Fi connections?

The 844E Broadband Router supports Wi-Fi networking on both a 2.4GHz and 5 GHz frequency band at the same time.  The 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network supports the 802.11n wireless standard and anything earlier.  The 5GHz Wi-Fi supports the newest 802.11ac wireless standard.

What is the difference between 802.11n and 802.11ac?

802.11ac was finalized in 2013 and you will now find it in every major smartphone, laptop and desktop computer and smart television versus the 802.11n which has been around since 2007. The biggest benefit in utilizing the 802.11ac is speed. Wi-Fi is always promoted using ‘theoretical’ speeds and by this standard 802.11ac is capable of 1300 megabits per second (Mbps) which is the equivalent of 162.5 megabytes per second (MBps). This is 3x faster than the typical 450Mbps speed attributed to 802.11n.

Why is my Wi-Fi signal strenght lower than I expected?

A wireless signal degrades with distance and obstructions.  Common signal impairments include walls, ceilings, metal, concrete, cinder blocks, fluorescent lights, microwaves, furniture, etc.  The 844E has been optimized to provide wireless coverage for most applications, there may be dependencies based on the location where the device is installed.
